For example, an alternative therapy health clinic offers an initial consultation for $49. After the initial consultation and x-rays, the doctor determines a suitable series of treatments for the patient. The proposed treatment costs the patient more than $5,000 for the first year. After signing up for the treatment and experiencing the benefits within only a few weeks, the patient refers three more customers through friends and family for an initial consultation with the same doctor.  Two of those referrals go on to sign up for a similar series of treatments, each costing over $5,000 per year again. From booking a single “new client offer” at $49, the clinic brings in over $15,000 revenue in the following year.

Similarly, an internet marketing consultant offers a “free website analysis and phone consultation” for all new customers. If you are in the service industry, take the hint from the travel industry: people prefer to book and pay online, make it easy for them to do that. If you don’t, you will be left behind.
